Community Life
If you are looking for a community with great schools, friendly neighbors, and businesses ready to serve you, Goessel is the place to be. A variety of businesses make Goessel their home, including a grocery store, service center, floral and gift shops, as well as a bank and credit union.
Each August, Goessel celebrates its rural history during Threshing Days, complete with antique engines, a parade, good food, concerts, and a sand volleyball tournament.
Becoming involved in the community is not difficult with opportunities at any of the area churches, the public library, Mennonite Heritage Museum, or Bethesda Home, a highly-esteemed retirement center. Kinder Haus Preschool and Joyful Noise Childcare offer children a nurturing environment at the beginning of their educational journey.
Award-winning Schools
Goessel schools are known for their high standards in all areas. The district has consistently achieved the standard of excellence on most state assessments at all levels and is among the highest in the state in graduation rate, ACT scores, and attendance rate.
In addition to academic excellence, the school boasts an award-winning Music and Art program, athletic teams that participate at the state level each year, and a strong Vocational Education Program. An active foreign exchange student program increases students' awareness and appreciation of the world outside our borders.
Recreational Opportunities
Many varied activities abound for those desiring a physically active lifestyle. Goessel's public park features new playground equipment, as well as a skate park. A lighted walking trail winds through a portion of the town, and an active Recreation Commission offers many activities for youth. Pine Edge, a beautiful 9-hole golf course, is located just outside of Goessel.
